Two thousand bustards released into the wild

    Two thousand bustards were released into the wild in Karakalpakstan’s Kungrad district, the Press Service of the Committee of the Republic of Karakalpakstan on Ecology and Environmental Protection reports.

    This event was held by the State Committee for Ecology and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan together with Falcon Hunting Solutions to preserve this rare and endangered poultry breeds, which is listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Red Book of the International Union for Conservation of Nature. These birds were bred at the International Fund for Houbara Conservation Center of the United Arab Emirates.

    It should be noted that bustards were included in the Red Book of Uzbekistan in 2009 as a rare species of bird. They live in the Kyzylkum desert. According to experts, their number and habitat began to decline back in the 1960s of the last century, inform UzA.
