According to the Ministry of Energy, the gas purchase and sale agreement was concluded between UzGasTrade JSC and Gazprom Export for a period of 2 years. The document on the basis of a power of attorney was signed by the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov and the Chairman of the Gazprom Management Board Alexey Miller.
The agreement has been developed on full commercial terms and is one of the measures aimed at partially satisfying the annually growing demand of consumers of the republic for natural gas and holding the autumn-winter season without interruptions.
As part of the agreement, it is planned to start importing 9 million cubic meters of natural gas per day from October 1 of this year. The annual volume will be about 2.8 billion cubic meters.
The price of natural gas will be agreed on the basis of market prices in the region, as well as current prices in Uzbekistan and reforms that are planned to be implemented on the basis of market principles.
Taking into account the fact that earlier natural gas was supplied to Russia in transit through Kazakhstan via the Central Asia - Center gas pipeline, now gas will be supplied in reverse mode to Uzbekistan, and with the need to build new gas measuring stations on the territory of Uzbekistan, the roadmap plans to complete the planned activities by September.
In particular, three gas pumping equipment will be replaced in the gas transmission system of Uzbekistan, as well as 11 different types of gas pumping devices will be completely repaired and restored. 22 km of new main gas pipelines will be built and 56 km of gas pipelines will be repaired.
