Uzbekistan and Israel discussed prospects for cooperation in the scientific field

    President of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan Behzod Yuldashev visited Israel and held a series of meetings and negotiations.

    According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan, the visit was organized at the invitation of the head of the Academy of Sciences and Humanities of Israel, Professor David Harel, and was held at this level for the first time in 30 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

    During the trip, Behzod Yuldashev held talks with the leadership of the Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology of Israel, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv University, as well as together with specialists and professors of leading universities and research laboratories of the country, in particular the Weizmann Institute, the Department of Nuclear Medicine of the Shiba Clinic, took part in "round table".

    At meetings with Israeli partners, Uzbekistan's modern research potential, ongoing work with international organizations and foreign countries were presented. Agriculture and water management, medicine, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, ecology and others were identified among the priority areas of the dialogue.

    Israeli experts stressed their interest in developing cooperation in the fields of humanities and natural sciences, including such areas as archaeology, Islamic studies (the study of manuscripts), biotechnology.

    In order to promote the bilateral agenda and identify specific joint research projects, the parties reached a number of agreements, including the elaboration of joint scientific research, the organization of joint seminars and conferences, the news agency "Dunyo" reports.

    In March last year, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the academies of sciences of the two countries.
