On September 16, 2024, First Deputy Minister of Mining and Geology O. Nasritdinkhodjaev and U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Uzbekistan Jonathan Henick signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of critical minerals in order to strengthen cooperation in the field of minerals.

At the high-level summit in New York in September 2023, the heads of State announced their intention to start a dialogue on mineral resources. This memorandum was one of the first steps by the United States of America and Uzbekistan to promote these efforts and strengthen economic cooperation.

The purpose of the agreement is to further strengthen cooperation between the countries in the field of critical minerals, as well as to develop ties in other areas.

This document serves as an important step in the continuation of the U.S.-Uzbekistan dialogue in the field of exploration, mining and creation of a chain of products with high added value.

In addition, within the framework of the event, a conversation was held with representatives of the delegation of Uzbekistan taking part in the largest global event in the mining industry - the MINExpo International exhibition, which will be held on September 24-26, 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
