A memorandum on laying an energy cable along the bottom of the Caspian Sea was signed in Astana

    The energy ministers of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan signed a memorandum on the project of laying an energy cable along the bottom of the Caspian Sea during the summit of the heads of energy departments of the Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan in Astana.

    The document defines the terms of cooperation on the project of interconnection of the energy systems of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, EADaily reports.

    "As part of the terms of reference, a proposed business model will be developed for the development of international transmission corridors (financing, revenue stream and ownership) and for the sale of green energy to the countries of the European Union. Based on the above, a draft memorandum of cooperation on the interconnection of the energy systems of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan was worked out between the Ministries of Energy of the three countries," said Almasadam Satkaliyev, head of the Kazakh Ministry of Energy.

    In addition, it is reported that the basic approaches to the implementation of this project were discussed and agreed upon at the summit.

    The first meeting of the energy ministers of the Central Asian states and Azerbaijan took place in Astana on Tuesday.
