    Preparations for the upcoming 150th anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union were discussed in Geneva

    Uzbekistan's Permanent Representative to the UN Office and other International Organizations in Geneva, Eldiyor Toshmatov, met with Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Martin Chungong.

    During the meeting, organizational and substantive issues related to preparations for the 150th anniversary assembly of the IPU, which will be held on April 5-9 in Tashkent, were discussed, the Dune news agency reports.

    The parties exchanged views on the assembly's program, as well as activities carried out by the IPU working bodies.

    The importance of high-quality holding of all meetings within the framework of the jubilee assembly was emphasized, the main theme of which was the "Parliamentary Movement for Social Development and Justice".

    The Secretary General of the IPU highly appreciated the large-scale work carried out by the chambers of the Parliament of Uzbekistan aimed at the successful holding of the upcoming event. Special thanks were expressed for the constructive approach and willingness to promptly resolve emerging issues.

    Following the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain close contact in order to successfully hold the Tashkent IPU Assembly.
