It is noted that on January 11-15 of this year, Abu Dhabi hosted the international week "Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026."
During the week, an agreement was signed to finance a project that includes a 300 MW solar photovoltaic plant and a 75 MWh energy storage system (BESS) in the Guzar district of Kashkadarya region.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khojaev, Minister of Energy Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the United Arab Emirates Suhail Muhammad al-Mazroui and Chief Executive Officer of Masdar Muhammad Jamil Al Ramahi.
This project will be implemented on the basis of a PPP with the participation of the Emirati company Masdar.
The project will involve financial resources from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Asian Development Bank. The financing package also includes funds from the Governments of Canada and Finland, resources from the Japan Cooperation Fund, and banking instruments.
It is noted that after the launch of the project, 280 thousand tons of harmful substances per year will be prevented from being released into the atmosphere, 231 million cubic meters of natural gas will be saved, and it will also be possible to provide electricity to about 280 thousand households.
The Guzar project is part of projects implemented by Masdar in Uzbekistan in the field of renewable energy sources, with a total capacity of about 2 GW.
The volume of investments in this area has exceeded 2 billion US dollars.
