An accident at a tourist site in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in northwestern China killed 5 people and injured 24 others. This was reported by the propaganda department of the Ili-Kazakh Autonomous District Party Committee.
As specified on the department's page on the WeChat social network, the cause of the accident, which occurred on Wednesday at 18:18 Beijing time (13:18 Moscow time) in Mongol County (Zhaosu), was the rupture of one of the cables. As a result, the suspension bridge tilted, and the people on it fell down.
All the injured were taken to the hospital, their lives are not in danger. The work of the tourist area where the accident occurred has been temporarily suspended. The authorities are dealing with the consequences of the incident, an investigation is underway, reports tass.ru.
