The 60th meeting of the CIS Electric Power Council was held in Nursultan

    On July 14 of this year, the 60th anniversary meeting of the Electric Power Council of the CIS countries was held in the capital of Kazakhstan, Nursultan. It was attended by a delegation headed by the Chairman of the Board of JSC "National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan" D. Isakulov.

    The participants of the 60th meeting of the Electric Power Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States (EEC of the CIS) discussed topical issues of the development of sustainable, low-carbon electric power, cooperation of the CIS countries in the field of renewable energy, taking into account the maintenance of national and regional energy security, and also considered a number of documents submitted by the Coordinating Council under the Electric Power Council of the CIS.

    Nikolay Shulginov, as President of the CIS EEC, welcomed the participants of the meeting and noted the importance of cooperation between the Commonwealth countries in the field of electric power.

    "Today we see that the regulatory and organizational framework of the CIS, formed over three decades, allows us to jointly solve almost any issues of economic development of our countries. The future belongs to industry partnership and cooperation. In today's political and economic realities, despite the differences in the energy policies of the countries, the main thing that brings us together is ensuring the security of the Commonwealth countries, the need to ensure reliable, affordable energy supply to consumers, protecting the economy and the population of the countries from threats in the field of energy," he highlighted.

    At the meeting, an updated version of the Regulation on the Coordinating Council under the CIS Electric Power Council was adopted, the updating of the activities of working groups and other structures of the Council was discussed.

    The Report on the activities of the CIS Electric Power Council in 2019-2021 has been approved, which is scheduled to be submitted to the CIS Economic Council in September 2022.

    According to the information service of JSC "NES of Uzbekistan", the next meeting of the Council is scheduled to be held in October-November 2022 in Moscow.
