On June 1-2, 2025, the Second Uzbek-Chinese Interregional Forum was held at the Silk Road Samarkand International Tourism Center, aimed at strengthening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and China, developing interregional cooperation, as well as expanding investment and business ties.

The forum was attended by more than 2,800 representatives of business circles, government authorities, regional administrations, scientific and educational institutions of both countries.

The Uzbek delegation was headed by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khojaev, and Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Ilzat Kasimov also attended the event.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Jamshid Khojaev stressed that today China is Uzbekistan's largest trade and investment partner. Over the past five years, trade between the two countries has doubled and reached $13 billion by the end of 2024. The volume of Chinese direct investment in Uzbekistan increased 5-fold compared to 2017, and the number of joint ventures increased 3-fold, exceeding 3,700.

Uzbekistan and China are successfully implementing joint projects in the fields of energy, chemical industry, mechanical engineering, textiles, production of building materials, household appliances and agriculture.

"The difficult economic situation in the world creates new opportunities for even closer cooperation," the speaker noted. He expressed confidence that the trade and economic forum and the exhibition of products of the two countries held within the framework of the forum will become platforms for concluding agreements on new major projects.

Special attention was paid during the forum to the implementation of the strategically important China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway construction project, which has already been launched. This project will significantly strengthen Uzbekistan's role as a logistics hub in the region.

It was emphasized that the Uzbek-Chinese partnership works for the benefit of the peoples of both countries and will be strengthened in the future through new projects, technologies and scientific developments.

On June 1, the forum hosted a number of bilateral meetings with the leaders of Chinese provinces, including Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Ningxia Hui, as well as the provinces of Shandong, Heilongjiang and Gansu. Prospects for expanding interregional cooperation and implementing investment projects were discussed.

Negotiations were also held with representatives of about 20 Chinese companies, including Shaanxi Construction Engineering, Yalan Textile, Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry and others.

A number of agreements were signed within the framework of the forum, as well as an exhibition of products from representatives of the business circles of the two countries. The event was an important step towards strengthening the comprehensive partnership between the regions of Uzbekistan and the provinces of China, once again demonstrating the high interest and trust in long-term cooperation.

Panel sessions were also held in areas such as science and education, innovation, agriculture and women's support, which highlighted the breadth and versatility of cooperation between the two countries.
