A meeting with a member of the European Parliament took place in the Senate

    The First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Sodik Safoev received the deputy of the European Parliament, the rapporteur on Uzbekistan Ilkhan Kyuchyuk.

    As you know, Uzbekistan and the European Union have established mutually beneficial multilateral cooperation in all spheres. Dialogue is consistently carried out at all levels. A number of agreements have been reached to expand relations in the economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres, and important events are being held in these areas. In recent years, the volume of mutual trade has been growing rapidly thanks to the "GSP+" procedure proposed by Europe.

    The MEP emphasized the support for irreversible reforms carried out in our country.

    He welcomed Uzbekistan's efforts to strengthen stability, security, achieve prosperity, and develop human rights institutions and civil society in Central Asia.

    The dynamic development of bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation was positively assessed.

    The sides exchanged views on the active use of existing mechanisms of inter-parliamentary cooperation in the country, in particular, the Committee on Parliamentary Cooperation "Uzbekistan - European Union".

    Following the meeting, the parties reached an agreement on further expansion of relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the European Parliament.
