The event was attended by delegations of migration authorities from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, as well as the CIS Executive Committee and the Interparliamentary Assembly of CIS Member States. Representatives of Turkmenistan, the Eurasian Economic Commission and the General Confederation of Trade Unions were invited to the meeting as observers, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee reports.
During the meeting, the members of the Council of Heads of Migration Authorities discussed 14 issues, including the migration situation in the CIS countries, changes in national legislation in the field of migration and law enforcement practice of migration authorities of the Commonwealth countries, the experience of joint preventive, operational and investigative measures and special operations to curb illegal migration by the competent authorities.
The members of the Council reviewed the approaches of the CIS member States in the field of functioning of specialized temporary detention facilities for foreign citizens and stateless persons, discussed the development of a draft Concept of the Common Migration Space of the Commonwealth of Independent States and measures to implement the Statement of the Heads of the CIS member States on the development of cooperation in the field of migration dated October 15, 2021, and also approved a Work Plan Council for 2024.
In addition, the meeting discussed the results of the analysis of the structures, tasks and functions of the competent authorities in the field of migration management of the CIS member states and developed proposals to strengthen cooperation and ensure coordination of their activities, also exchanged experience in the use of modern information technologies by the migration authorities of the CIS member states and interaction with the media to cover official activities and public awareness.
