Uzbekistan – Russian “South 2021” exercises start in Termez

    Uzbekistan – Russian exercises are being held at Termez mountain range, from July 30 to August 8, under the Cooperation Plan in the military sphere between the Ministries of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation.

    On August 2, the official opening of Uzbekistan – Russian “South 2021” exercises took place at the “Termez” training ground. This was announced by the Information and Mass Communications Department of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

    The main goal of the exercises is to improve the system of cooperation between the military command and control bodies of both countries, exchange experience in the field of security.

    Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Colonel Qodirjon Tursunov and the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Central Military District of the Russian Federation, Major General Nikolai Tereshchenko addressed the opening ceremony.

    On August 1, the participants of the training camps visited the historical sights of Surkhandarya region – Termez Archaeological Museum and complexes reflecting the Surkhan ethnoculture.
