Today rice is grown mainly in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Khorezm, Namangan, Andijan, Jizzakh, Fergana, Surkhandarya, Syrdarya and Tashkent regions.

In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On measures for the further development of rice cultivation" in 2021, rice sowing by seedling method will be carried out by at least 20% of the total rice area, the planning system by laser equipment - by 50%, rice sowing by modern seeders - by 30%. In 2022, it is planned to further increase these indicators. In particular, it is planned to increase the average yield to 49.1 quintals per hectare.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture, rice is mainly sown in two ways: from seeds and seedlings. When sowing from seeds, two different methods are also used: the modern method is with a seeder in a row or across, and the seeds are sown manually.

In farms specializing in seed production, it is recommended to sow seeds with a seed drill. With this method of sowing, the plants develop evenly, the occurrence is reduced, the yield of rice increases and high-quality seeds are obtained. When sowing with a seeder, its coulters are installed in such a way that they seal the seeds into the soil to a depth of 1.5-2 cm. This method of sowing saves 35% of water at 60-80 kg per hectare of seed material.

Of all the methods, the most useful is the staggered landing method. Currently, the oldest and most common method in our country is the random seeding method. The application of this method depends mainly on the specific conditions of rice-growing areas. In addition, rice is sown on part of the rice fields of the republic by seedling method.
