President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation of proposals for the effective organization of the implementation of the nationwide project “Yashil Makon” (Green Space), optimization of forestry management.

Last year, the nationwide project “Yashil Makon” was launched on the initiative of the Head of the state to increase green areas. It was decided to plant 200 million trees and shrubs annually under the project. The goal was to increase green areas from the current 8 to 30 percent.

Over the past short time, 535 hectares of forest plantations and 638 hectares of public parks have been created in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the regions. Under the State Forestry Committee, the State Unitary Enterprise “Yashil Hudud” (Green Area) was created and provided with the necessary equipment.

An analysis of the ecological situation in Uzbekistan and the work done indicate the need for further expansion of this movement. In particular, air pollution by various chemicals and heavy metals is growing. There is no clear delineation of the tasks of the State Forestry Committee and hokimiyats for planting and caring for seedlings.

In this regard, it was proposed to determine the State Forestry Committee as the sole responsible organization for this activity. The creation of gardens and public parks, tree care and maintenance for 3 years will be proposed to be entrusted to the Yashil Hudud enterprise.

It also provides measures to identify and design land for planting trees, increase the number of nurseries, introduce water-saving technologies, and purchase special equipment for forestry.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, emphasizing the importance of these works for the country’s ecology and people's health, was instructed to finalize and scale up the proposed measures.
