It was emphasized that this appointment will serve to further strengthen relations between Uzbekistan and the UAE based on mutual trust, as well as expand practical cooperation in trade, economy, investment, innovation, and tourism.

Senators noted that Umid Shodiev possesses deep knowledge and practical experience in foreign policy, along with the potential to effectively promote the country's national interests in the international arena.

Umid Shodiev served as the Chairman of the Tourism Committee until last December. In December, Abdulaziz Akkulov, the former Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the UAE, was appointed to that position.
