In recent years, Uzbekistan has seen a rapid increase in the number of cars: if 3.14 million were registered in 2021, then by 2025 their number increased by 66% and reached 5.2 million.
This trend is especially acute in Tashkent, where the increase in the number of vehicles directly affects the quality of atmospheric air and the health of residents. At the same time, global statistics show that up to 60% of harmful emissions come from motor vehicles, while industry accounts for 21% and electricity generation for 20%.
World No Car Day is a reminder that we can reduce the burden on the environment if we give up personal transport for at least one day in favor of public transport, hiking, cycling or other environmentally friendly means of transportation. Each such step is a contribution to clean air, human health and a sustainable future.
