Uzbekistan to introduce advanced Japanese technologies in the field of waste processing and disposal

    The Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a meeting with representatives of the Japanese company Ishigaki Company Ltd., specializing in the production of industrial filtration and dewatering equipment.

    The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the prospects for cooperation in the field of waste management, the introduction of advanced Japanese recycling and recycling technologies, as well as the implementation of joint projects in the field of circular economy and environmental protection.

    Representatives of Ishigaki Company Ltd. spoke about the long-term activities of the company, which has been successfully operating in the field of filtration, water treatment and waste recycling for more than 67 years, introducing innovative solutions in various countries around the world. The Japanese side noted the high interest in reforms in the fields of infrastructure, ecology and the mining industry of Uzbekistan, expressing its readiness to conduct a research mission to explore the potential of joint projects.

    Minister of Ecology Aziz Abdukhakimov stressed that Uzbekistan is actively implementing waste management programs and the introduction of "green" technologies. There are already 14 areas in operation in the country, including a $114 million medical waste disposal project, the development of a Waste to Energy network, the introduction of a green tariff system, as well as cooperation with the European Union and ACWA Power and EPSE OY companies.

    The Minister noted that in the context of climate change, environmental issues and rational use of natural resources are becoming a strategic priority of the state, and the use of international best practices, especially Japanese technologies, is important.

    Following the negotiations, the parties agreed to prepare a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Agency for Waste Management and the Development of Circular Economy and Ishigaki Company Ltd.. The document will provide for the exchange of specialists, the conduct of environmental audits, the creation of joint research programs and the adaptation of Japanese technologies to the conditions of Uzbekistan.

    At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence that this cooperation would be an important step in promoting the principles of circular economy, implementing environmentally friendly solutions and ensuring sustainable development of Uzbekistan.
