The State Environmental Control Inspectorate of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change conducted an inspection of the activities of a foreign company, S.I., located in the Bulungur district of the Samarkand region.

During the inspection, it was established that on November 25, 2024, the Ministry of Mining and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan, based on decision No. 44 of the State Unitary Enterprise "Center for Subsoil Use" dated October 23, 2024, conducted an electronic online auction for geological exploration at the site "Jomboy-3", located 7.7 km to northwest of the center of the Bulungur district, with an area of 11.3 hectares, consisting of loess rocks.

According to the results of the auction, the foreign company S. I. was recognized as the winner, which was granted a license to conduct exploration on November 27, 2024 by the Ministry of Mining and Geology.

However, the company, having failed to issue a mining permit in accordance with the established procedure, violated the requirements stipulated by the license and the terms of the auction, and carried out illegal extraction of non-metallic materials. As a result of the measurements, it was established that a foreign company illegally extracted 50,859.25 cubic meters of soil (loess rocks).

These actions are in violation of articles 18-48 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Nature Protection" and article 34 of the Law "On Subsoil". According to Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 666 dated November 23, 2022, the environmental damage was estimated at 7,374,591.250 soums.

The collected materials have been sent to the Prosecutor General's Office for a legal assessment of the situation and appropriate measures.
