President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko made the statement at a meeting with Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Belarus Rakhmatulla Nazarov, BelTA has learned.

"Many Uzbeks live with us and want to live and work. These are our people. We are very pleased to invite especially family people. Unfortunately, our population is not growing as much as yours, so we are always happy to see hardworking citizens of Uzbekistan," the head of state noted.

Lukashenko stressed that the reception of migrants in Belarus is strictly regulated: arrivals clearly understand that they are taking on a specific job, and they are provided with all conditions for children - a nursery, kindergarten, school, higher education on an equal basis with Belarusians, Russians, Ukrainians and others.

"We have great opportunities. People are happy to travel and work. We are ready to work with our brothers from Uzbekistan. We know that you did a lot for Belarusians during the Second World War. Many of our people found refuge in Uzbekistan, and they were treated like human beings. In this regard, we are a little indebted to you," the President added.

Alexander Lukashenko stressed his readiness for further cooperation with Uzbek specialists and the development of bilateral labor relations.
