The delegation of the Khokimiyat of Tashkent took part in the fifth meeting of the UN-2025 Forum of Mayors in Geneva

    The delegation of the Tashkent city Khokimiyat took part in the Fifth meeting of the UN Mayors Forum 2025, held in Geneva under the slogan "Cities shaping the future."

    The event was attended by more than 100 mayors of capitals and major cities of the world, as well as representatives of leading international organizations - the UNECE, WHO, ILO and other structures. The participants discussed the prospects for interregional cooperation, the role of cities and local communities in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), exchanged experiences and ideas on solving topical issues of urbanism.

    The forum was opened by the Mayor of Glasgow, Susan Aitken. Presentations were made by Tatiana Molchan, Executive Secretary of the UNECE, Marco Mori, Secretary General of the European Consulate, Laura Thompson, Assistant Director General of the ILO, and Christian Kitsos, Deputy Mayor of Geneva.

    The meeting considered the key areas of the SDGs - good health and well-being (SDG 3), gender equality (SDG 5), decent work and economic growth (SDG 8). Special attention is paid to the issues of climate finance and housing construction.

    Tashkent city Deputy Khokim Shukhrat Rakhmanov presented a report on "Good health and well-being (SDG 3)", and First Deputy Head of the Investment Department Abdullajon Shavkatov delivered a report on "Gender Equality (SDG 5)".

    Within the framework of the forum, a bilateral meeting was also held with the Executive Secretary of the UNECE, Tatiana Molchan, at which prospects for cooperation in the fields of transport, logistics and the environment were discussed. Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on the preparation of a roadmap providing for concrete steps to further strengthen the partnership.
