Uzbekistan women's national team advances to the AFC Women's Asian Cup quarterfinals

For the first time in history, the Uzbekistan women's national team has advanced to the knockout stage of the AFC Women's Asian Cup, currently being held in Australia. The team finished third in Group B and secured a spot in the quarterfinals as one of the best third-placed teams. A victory in the next match could grant Uzbekistan a historic berth in the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup.

In the final match of the group stage, the team led by Kotryna Kulbyte defeated Bangladesh 4-0 at the Perth Rectangular Stadium. Diyora Khabibullaeva and Nilufar Kudratova each scored once, while Dildora Nozimova secured a brace. Uzbekistan finished Group B with 3 points, behind China (9 points) and DPR Korea (6 points).

The quarterfinals are scheduled to take place between March 13 and 15. Uzbekistan is set to face South Korea, the winner of Group A, on Saturday, March 14, at Stadium Australia in Sydney. The top six teams of the Asian Cup will earn direct qualification for the 2027 World Cup in Brazil.
