During his visit to Kashkadarya region, the Head of State toured a new agrotourism complex.
Previously, this area consisted of arid hills and barren land. Following the introduction of a drip irrigation system, the landscape has been completely transformed and is now covered in greenery.
The complex spans 520 hectares. Vineyards, cherry trees, and apple orchards have been planted on the slopes using terracing technology, alongside afforestation efforts. All seedlings were imported from France and belong to high-yield varieties.
“Those who doubted our ability to develop hilly and steppe lands should look at this orchard”, the President noted.
The complex is designed to produce 7,500 tons of agricultural products annually. Its export potential is estimated at $5 million. One hundred permanent and over one thousand seasonal jobs have already been created. A French agronomist has been invited to oversee the development of the seedlings and is also training local youth in agricultural practices and market requirements.
To attract tourists and boost the local economy, a 120-seat restaurant and a hotel accommodating 100 guests have been built within the complex. Construction is underway for an agro-logistics center, a training center, and facilities for processing and storing produce.
Officials reported to the President on plans to establish similar complexes in other mountainous areas.
The President instructed that irrigation systems be installed on new plots of land and that these lands be allocated to the population to establish orchards, thereby creating sources of income for residents.
