According to reports, the small aircraft took off from Mumbai around 8:10 AM local time and crashed near Baramati Airport about half an hour later while attempting to land. Pawar was reportedly scheduled to attend four important public meetings ahead of next month's local elections.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) stated that two of his staff members and two crew members were also on board.

The department's report said: "There were no survivors on board".

Video footage from the scene showed fire and smoke, as well as aircraft debris and an ambulance, reported by report.az.

According to media reports, Pawar's plane, flying from India's financial capital Mumbai, attempted an emergency landing in Baramati, located 250 kilometers from the departure point.
