According to the traditions, the Head of State began his visit to Samarkand with a visit to the mausoleum of Imam Bukhari. Verses from the Quran and prayers were recited.

At the initiative of the President, this complex was rebuilt on a grand scale, harmoniously reflecting the high status and immense spiritual legacy of our distinguished ancestor, the great hadith scholar, who holds an honored place in the Islamic world.

On a 45-hectare site, a majestic mausoleum, a mosque for 10,000 worshippers, an administrative building, a museum, and entrance and exit iwans have been constructed. Minarets rising 75 meters at each of the ensemble’s four corners give it a special grandeur.

Taking into account that this landmark should serve not only as a place of pilgrimage but also as a center of scholarship, spiritual education, and moral guidance, and that the great research, knowledge, and intellectual excellence of Imam Bukhari should serve as a noble example for pilgrims, especially for the youth, an innovative museum was established within the complex. It embodies the life and scholarly legacy of Imam Bukhari, recognized in the Islamic world as the “Sultan of Hadith”, as well as his contribution to the development of Islamic science and culture.

While the complex previously accommodated up to 12,000 visitors per day, it can now serve 65,000 guests daily, providing services that meet international standards.

In addition, the International Research Center of Imam Bukhari and the School of Hadith Studies are located here.

A total of 570 billion UZS has been allocated for the construction of hotels, commercial facilities, and service infrastructure on the grounds of this pilgrimage center. One four-star hotel, two three-star hotels, and twenty-two family guesthouses have been built. The infrastructure is fully equipped with utility networks, and the area has been landscaped. By 2026, additional landscaping work and the organization of parking areas are planned.

Emphasizing that the mausoleum of Imam Bukhari is a vivid symbol of our nation’s rich spiritual heritage and creative potential, the Head of State instructed responsible officials to ensure the high-quality and timely completion of the final improvement works at the complex.
