Climatic features of September

According to long-term observations, in the first half of September, the average daytime air temperature in the republic is 30-33 ° C, and in the second half - 26-29 ° C. On the warmest days, the air can warm up to 35-37 ° C, and in the south of the country - up to 39-40 ° C. Absolute maxima reach 41-43 °C.

In the history of meteorological observations in Tashkent, the hottest September day was recorded on September 25, 2013, when the temperature reached 40.0°C.

Periods of significant cooling in September are rare and, as a rule, are short-lived. In some years, even early autumn frosts were observed in the northern regions and some desert areas.

The coldest Sept. months were in 1930, 1931, 1992 and 1994, when the temperature was 2-3.5°C below normal. The warmest months were 2013, 2016, 2021 and 2022, when the average values exceeded the norm by 1.5–3.5 ° C, which corresponds to the global trend of global warming.

Precipitation in September

September is one of the driest months of the year in Uzbekistan. On average, precipitation falls only 1-3 times per month. Their number is only 1-5 mm on the plains, 6-10 mm in the foothills, and can reach 15-30 mm in mountainous areas.

There were years when there was no precipitation at all, for example, in 2007, 2021 and 2022. However, sometimes abnormally heavy rains fell. So, in September 1969, 21 mm of precipitation fell in Khiva in one day at a monthly rate of 2 mm, and in Nukus in 2016, 30 mm was recorded per day at a rate of 3 mm.
