"German business cooperation with the most populous country in Central Asia is becoming more comprehensive and, above all, more specific," said Michael Harms, Managing Director of the Committee for Eastern European Economic Relations. "This is facilitated by a number of bilateral agreements regulating cooperation in the fields of skilled workers, raw materials, investments and standardization."
The 9th meeting of the German-Uzbek Business Council (DUWIRAT) was held at the Dusseldorf Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the participation of about 100 business representatives from the two countries. DUWIRAT is a bilateral platform founded in 2015 to promote economic relations between Germany and Uzbekistan, Dunyo news agency reports.
It is noted that the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations and the Uzbek Agency for Technical Regulation (Uzstandart) have signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of harmonization of technical standards and norms.
"The aim is to reduce regulatory barriers and facilitate market access for German companies," the committee said in a statement.
