Prospects for the development of multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States were discussed

    On August 10 of this year, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjayev held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Uzbekistan Daniel Rosenblum.

    During the talks, topical issues on the agenda of multifaceted Uzbek-American cooperation were discussed. Significant progress was noted with satisfaction in the field of bilateral and regional partnership, achieved thanks to mutual interest and the desire to increase multilateral ties.

    During the talks, the parties comprehensively considered the prospects for deepening cooperation in the trade and economic sphere. In particular, in the first half of 2022, there was an increase in mutual trade turnover by 31%, thus the figure reached $ 247.5 million. Concrete steps have been outlined to intensify trade relations and expand the range of import-export operations.

    During the dialogue, the possibilities of developing investment cooperation and industrial cooperation were touched upon. Over the past few years, the number of enterprises with American capital in Uzbekistan has doubled and amounted to 315 units. Mutual interest was expressed in expanding the economic presence of American companies in Uzbekistan. To this end, the parties planned to join forces in order to attract leading companies and financial organizations of the United States to implement joint projects in the country.

    Other issues of mutual interest on the bilateral agenda were also discussed during the meeting. For example, it was agreed to continue cooperation with the US Agency for International Development (USAID) in the framework of the development of "green" energy, agriculture and youth entrepreneurship, as well as to intensify cooperation with the US Financial Corporation for International Development (DFC) in the implementation of various projects in promising industries.

    In addition, the parties agreed to maintain a substantive and effective dialogue established over the years between the business circles and regions of the two countries.

    Daniel Rosenblum expressed the commitment of the United States to continue supporting Uzbekistan in the process of joining the World Trade Organization.

    Following the meeting, confidence was expressed that the agreements reached and the initiatives discussed, with effective implementation, will give a new impetus to the multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
