The President of Uzbekistan and the Chancellor of Germany meet with representatives of the business circles of the two countries

    On September 16, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Olaf Scholz held a joint meeting in Samarkand with representatives of the two countries’ leading companies and banks.

    The event was attended by the Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Michael Kellner, Executive Director of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy Michael Harms, heads and representatives of leading companies KNAUF, CLAAS, Mangold Consulting, Gunter Papenburg, Siemens Energy, Linde Group, Aurubis, FALK PORSCHE, Metso, Edison Technologies, Ernst Klett, Siemens Healthineers, Herrenknecht, DB Engineering & Consulting, Svevind Energy Group, Rhenus, HMS Bergbau, Textima, as well as KfW Development Bank, AKA Bank, and others.

    The President of Uzbekistan, having sincerely welcomed all the meeting participants, emphasized the symbolism of its holding in the historic city of Samarkand.

    The results of the fruitful negotiations held yesterday at the highest level were highly regarded. During these negotiations, the key priorities of the development of New Uzbekistan, including the deep transformation and modernization of economic sectors, were supported.

    It was emphasized that the main results of the meeting were the agreements on developing measures to support and accelerate joint investment projects and trade contracts within the framework of the adopted strategic Program of industrial and technological partnership with leading German companies and banks.

    Priority areas of mutually beneficial partnership with the active and practical participation of the business communities of Uzbekistan and Germany were identified.

    This concerns industrial cooperation in green energy, the chemical industry, the production of green hydrogen, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, textile, pharmaceutical industries, and other spheres.

    In addition, the participation of German companies in developing critical mineral resource deposits and their deep processing and producing products with high added value with subsequent export to Germany and third-country markets is designated as a promising area.

    Among the main areas are the modernization of energy, transport and communications, utilities, and tourism infrastructure, participation in the privatization program of industrial and service enterprises, and the implementation of socially significant projects in healthcare, education, and ecology in Uzbekistan.

    At the meeting, the President of Uzbekistan focused on establishing a close partnership between German businesses and representatives of large Uzbekistan companies.

    In this context, the importance of developing new project initiatives and continuing to implement joint projects in the production of building materials, metallurgy, energy, chemistry, transport infrastructure, agriculture and mechanical engineering, medicine, and others was emphasized.

    “We organized our meeting in a new format. The Uzbek side is represented mainly by representatives of the private sector, who have firmly “gotten on their feet” in recent years and are worthy partners of German business”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

    In conclusion of his speech, the President of Uzbekistan wished all those present great success in implementing their plans.

    In turn, Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz, highly appreciating the sustainable nature of developing multifaceted relations with Uzbekistan, emphasized the importance of strengthening existing business contacts and called on representatives of German business circles to boldly participate in implementing joint projects and initiatives.
