The President of Uzbekistan highly appreciated the fruitful cooperation with the International Labour Organization

On July 9, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Director-General of the International Labour Organization, Gilbert Houngbo, who arrived in Uzbekistan on a working visit.

Issues of further enhancing collaboration with this authoritative UN institution were considered.

Expressing sincere gratitude for the warm welcome, the ILO Director-General highly appreciated Uzbekistan’s achievements in ensuring workers’ rights, creating jobs, and implementing international conventions.

In this regard, he called his visit a manifestation of support for the ongoing effective reforms under the leadership of the Head of Uzbekistan.

It was emphasized that the ILO considers Uzbekistan’s experience in this area as a successful model for international study and application. Recognition of this is the election of Uzbekistan to the organization’s Administrative Council in June this year.

In recent years, interaction between Uzbekistan and the ILO has risen to a qualitatively new level. With the organization’s assistance, more than 40 regulations in the labor sphere have been adopted in Uzbekistan, and 22 international conventions have been ratified.

It was noted that implementing joint measures to promote the principles of social justice, including within the framework of the Global Coalition for Social Justice, is important.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on developing and adopting a new Country Program for 2026-2030.
