President’s message to the participants in the signing ceremony of the Agreement on the construction of the China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan railway

    On June 6, Beijing hosted a signing ceremony of the Agreement on implementing the strategic project for constructing China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan railway.

    The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent a video message to the event participants. President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping and President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov also sent video messages on signing the agreement.

    The Leader of Uzbekistan emphasized that implementing this important infrastructure project is a truly historic event to strengthen economic and transport connectivity in a vast region.

    “This railway will become the shortest land “shoulder” connecting China with our region. In the future, this road will allow access through the promising Trans-Afghan corridor to the capacious markets of the countries of South Asia and the Middle East”, the Head of state noted.

    The economic effect of the project will be the creation of new enterprises and tens of thousands of jobs, a multiple increase in the volume of mutual trade and the scale of industrial cooperation, investment attractiveness, and most importantly, an increase in the standard of living of the population.

    In accordance with the agreement, China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan railway will run along the route Kashgar – Torugart – Makmal – Jalalabad – Andijan.

    According to experts, the annual volume of cargo transportation along this highway can reach up to 15 million tons, and the delivery time of goods to end consumers will be reduced by 7 days. In addition, a modern transit and logistics infrastructure, warehouses, and terminals will be created.
