The summit, chaired by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, was attended by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, as well as the CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev.
In accordance with the agenda, views were exchanged on the state and prospects for the development of multifaceted relations, and current issues of practical interaction within the CIS were discussed.
In his speech, the President of Uzbekistan highly praised the results of Russia’s chairmanship of the Commonwealth, during which multilateral cooperation developed in all areas.
Particular attention was paid to the current situation regarding ensuring the security and sustainable development of the CIS countries.
The importance of establishing systemic interaction between special services and competent agencies of the CIS countries, improving methods of combating modern challenges, and taking coordinated measures to ensure cybersecurity and program documents was noted.
Strengthening joint work in the economic area of cooperation was designated as a priority.
Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and the CIS countries has grown by 16 percent since the beginning of the year. There are many examples of successful industrial cooperation.
The need to intensify the activities of industry councils and committees of the CIS was noted.
It was proposed to hold a meeting of the CIS Economic Council and the Innovative Development Forum in the spring of next year within the framework of the International Industrial Exhibition “Innoprom” in Tashkent.
Considering the results of the recent Tashkent Conference of Leading Analytical Centers of the CIS countries, the importance of supporting new priorities of long-term partnership was emphasized.
This concerns, among other things, the development of Internet technologies and the big data industry, the accelerated implementation of digital solutions, the creative economy, green energy and nuclear technologies, climate challenges, and others.
In this context, it was proposed to make meetings of experts and analysts from the CIS countries regular and to hold the next conference in Samarkand, devoting it to the development of artificial intelligence.
The CIS Culture Days were proposed to expand humanitarian exchanges. In addition, the need to prepare an annual program of joint events in healthcare, education, art, cinema, tourism, and sports was emphasized.
Implementing projects within the framework of declaring Samarkand and Tashkent the cultural and youth capitals of the Commonwealth, respectively, was noted with satisfaction.
In addition, open CIS chess and football cups among youth teams will be held in Uzbekistan.
In conclusion, the President of Uzbekistan congratulated the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon on assuming the chairmanship of the Organization in 2025.
Following the summit, several agreements and decisions were adopted on priority areas of cooperation within the CIS.
