The Presidents of Uzbekistan and Belarus hold a telephone conversation

    On July 24, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko.

    At the beginning of the conversation, the Leader of Belarus warmly congratulated the President of Uzbekistan on his birthday, wishing him good health, well-being, and new achievements for the prosperity and benefit of Uzbekistan.

    The issues related to the practical implementation of agreements reached during the Belarusian President’s visit to Uzbekistan in February of last year, based on the adopted roadmap, were addressed.

    Satisfaction was expressed with the active and productive contacts at various levels, highlighting the successful outcomes of the recent session of the Intergovernmental Commission held in Minsk and the meeting of foreign ministers in Tashkent.

    Trade turnover between the two countries has grown by 28 percent since the beginning of the year. Cooperation projects are being implemented in agriculture, electrical engineering, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and other sectors. Joint cultural and humanitarian programs are also underway.

    The leaders of Uzbekistan and Belarus also discussed the schedule of upcoming bilateral events.
