The Presidents of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan confirmed their commitment to further strengthening comprehensive strategic partnership

    A meeting between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov took place at the Kuksaroy Residence in a contracted format.

    At the meeting, current cooperation issues between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan were discussed.

    At the beginning of the conversation, the President of Uzbekistan, warmly welcoming the distinguished guest, emphasized that in recent years, thanks to joint efforts, a good foundation has been formed for a radical expansion of multifaceted interaction for the long term.

    It was emphasized that the signing of a Joint Statement on further deepening and enhancing a comprehensive strategic partnership within the framework of this visit confirms the mutual desire to elevate bilateral relations.

    The need to increase the effectiveness of contacts at the level of parliaments, governments, foreign policy and industry departments, to continue mutual support within international and regional platforms, including the United Nations, WTO, Consultative Meetings of Heads of State of the region, and “Central Asia Plus” formats was noted.

    The importance of forming a new economic cooperation agenda was noted.

    The relevance of developing comprehensive measures to increase trade turnover to $2 billion in the coming years was emphasized. A business forum was successfully held the day before, and a package of new agreements was adopted.

    During the current visit, cooperation projects in renewable energy sources, the automotive industry, and the textile industry will be launched.

    Priority attention was paid to the speedy practical implementation of strategic regional projects, including constructing the China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan railway and Kambarata HPP-1.

    New project proposals in the development of transport and energy infrastructure were considered.

    The presidents stated the importance of further enhancing interregional cooperation, including within the framework of the Council of Hokims of Border Regions.

    Mutually beneficial cooperation in agriculture, water management, ecology, security, and other areas was also discussed.

    The intensification of cultural and humanitarian exchange was noted with satisfaction. This week, the Kyrgyzstan Culture Days are taking place in Uzbekistan. The Second Forum of Rectors was successfully held the day before in Samarkand. The parties agreed to prepare a calendar of cultural events for the coming years.

    The heads of state also exchanged views on regional issues of mutual interest.
