Tashkent hosts the first meeting of Uzbekistan – Kazakhstan Cooperation Commission

    On 3 June 2021, within the framework of the official visit of the Chair of the Senate of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbaev to Uzbekistan, the first meeting of the Commission on Cooperation between the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held.

    It was attended by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Co-Chairman of the Commission from the Uzbek side S. Safoyev and Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Co-Chairman of the Commission from the Kazakh side A. Shakirov.

    The parties considered issues of the state and prospects of further development and deepening cooperation between the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

    The parties noted the role of parliaments in the development of cooperation between regions, including border areas in further enhancing and strengthening trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties.

    Proposals were put forward to intensify inter-parliamentary dialogue through the exchange of delegations, to hold a forum of regions to intensify direct contacts between deputies of regions and districts of the two countries, to continue cooperation in gender equality, to interact and coordinate actions within the framework of inter-parliamentary structures – IPU, OSCE PA, IPA CIS and others.

    The parties discussed the prospects for cooperation between the Institute of Problems of Legislation and Parliamentary Studies of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Institute for Parliamentarism under the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

    Following the event, the issue of holding the second joint meeting of the Cooperation Commission between the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan was considered.
