A memorandum of cooperation between Tashkent and Shanghai for 2024-2026 was signed

    On January 22 of this year, a delegation headed by the acting Khokim of Tashkent, Shavkat Umurzakov, met with the Mayor of Shanghai, Gong Zhen.

    At the beginning of the meeting, Gong Zheng said that he was glad to see the delegation at the Mayor's office and gave a brief information about the indicators of the city of Shanghai. He noted that Shanghai is one of the international financial centers and one of the world's leaders in the number of patents for inventions and intellectual property.

    Mr. Gong Zheng expressed his willingness to cooperate with the city of Tashkent in strengthening the city's governance, developing the tourism sector, and increasing foreign trade and investment.

    Shavkat Umurzakov expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality and noted that friendship between Uzbekistan and China has a long history.

    He noted that it is important for Tashkent to study the rich experience of Shanghai in urban planning and continue mutual cooperation, stressing that the historical cooperation between our countries has reached a new strategic level today, which is directly related to the political will and initiatives of the heads of state - President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping. He briefly spoke about the projects implemented jointly with Chinese partners in Tashkent.

    Also Sh. Umurzakov spoke about the prospects for the development of Tashkent, made a number of proposals and offered to work on their implementation together.

    The Mayor of Shanghai expressed support for all proposals, readiness for comprehensive assistance and cooperation.

    Following the meeting, the Tashkent Khokimiyat and the Shanghai City Hall signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between Tashkent and Shanghai for 2024-2026.
