The strikes began overnight in the capital, Kabul, followed by bombardments in the Kandahar and Paktia provinces. Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed the airstrikes on Kabul.
Pakistan reported that 72 Afghan soldiers were killed in border battles. In turn, the Afghan Ministry of Defense claims that 55 Pakistani soldiers were killed.
