The Shanghai Cooperation Organization has appointed Chairman of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan Akmal Nur as the "SCO Goodwill Ambassador" from Uzbekistan.

SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming presented A. Nur with the certificate "SCO Goodwill Ambassador".

The ceremony was attended by ambassadors, permanent representatives of the SCO member states, representatives of Chinese government departments, as well as the leadership and staff of the Secretariat.

The initiative to introduce the honorary title of "SCO Goodwill Ambassador" to the SCO was put forward by the President of Uzbekistan Sh. Mirziyoyev in 2021.

During the meeting of the Council of Heads of Member States in the city of Samarkand (2022), the heads of the Member States of the Organization approved the relevant Regulation, which specifies the main powers, functional responsibilities and financial rules for the activities of the SCO Goodwill Ambassador.
