The President of the Senate met with the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization D. Tang

    During the visit of the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva in Geneva, a meeting was held with the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) D. Tang.

    During the meeting, issues of continuing joint work on intellectual property protection and improving Uzbekistan's position in the WIPO Global Innovation Index were discussed.

    D. Tang noted that he was closely monitoring the changes taking place in Uzbekistan on the protection of intellectual property rights, thoroughly studied the Development Strategy in the field of intellectual property for 2022-2026, approved by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh.M. Mirziyoyev, which is a vivid confirmation of the state's attention paid to this area.

    During the meeting, the readiness of WIPO to provide Uzbekistan with comprehensive assistance in further improving national legislation, strengthening intellectual property protection, and introducing scientific achievements into every sphere was noted.

    The parties drew attention to the requirement to create national brands and the need to protect geographical names.

    As a result of the dialogue, an agreement was reached on WIPO's support for a number of Uzbekistan's initiatives in the field of intellectual property, the information service of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
