Representatives of the Ministry of Sports and the NOC honored the "Tashkent Tiger"

    The other day, the first world boxing champion, the famous Rufat Riskiev, known as the "Tashkent Tiger" turned 75 years old. Representatives of the Ministry of Sports of Uzbekistan and the National Olympic Committee congratulated him on this significant date.

    At the solemn part of the event held at the Museum of Olympic and Paralympic Glory, the hero of the day was warmly congratulated by the Minister of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan Adham Ikramov, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee Oybek Kassymov, Chairman of the Council of Veterans of Sports of Uzbekistan Bahodir Mahsitov, noting great achievements in the development of boxing in our country, as well as in the education of many talented students, presented memorable gifts, wished health and longevity. Then the participants visited the family of the Uzbek boxing legend.

    Rufat Asadovich Riskiev was born on October 2, 1949 in Tashkent, in the Kukcha mahalla, in the family of a doctor. He began boxing with the famous Sidney Jackson, then his coach was the honored coach of the USSR Boris Granatkin. In 1974, he won the first World Boxing Championship in the weight class up to 75 kg, held in Havana (Cuba). In 1976, he became a silver medalist at the Olympic Games in Montreal (Canada). In 2020, he was awarded the Order of Dustlik.
