The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council adopted an order to support the implementation of the joint project of the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union on the implementation of accelerated rail and multimodal transportation "Eurasian Agroexpress".

The project is aimed at increasing the volume of mutual supplies and exports of agricultural products and food, as well as its diversification.

"At the first stage, regular shipments outside the EAEU will be organized in two directions - to China and Uzbekistan, as well as back. In the future, the routes of implementation can be expanded to other countries of the Asian and European regions," said Andrey Slepnev, Minister for Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission. - The regularity of transportation will make it possible to form competitive tariffs for sea freight, as well as reduce the delivery time of goods (up to 10-14 days to China and 4-7 days to Uzbekistan). In addition, it is planned to create all the necessary infrastructure - a well-established logistics supply chain."

The Minister explained that we are talking about the supply of fat and oil, dairy, meat, fruit and vegetable and finished food products, as well as other food products with an emphasis on margin goods.

The joint project provides for the possibility of launching two full-component container trains per week on the route "Republic of Belarus - Russian Federation - Kyrgyz Republic - Republic of Kazakhstan - People's Republic of China", including trains with refrigerated containers for frozen products. Thus, the monthly volume of traffic in the direction of China may amount to about 10 thousand tons.

Participation in the joint project was confirmed by LLC Bremino Group (Republic of Belarus), JSC KTZ Express (Republic of Kazakhstan), SE NC KTZ (Kyrgyz Republic), JSC RZD Logistics (Russian Federation), JSC Slavtrans-Service (Russian Federation). To perform the functions of the coordinator, the ANO "Eurasian Agrologistics" was created.

For reference: in 2019, the Agroexpress project, which involves regular container transportation of agricultural products by rail to China, was launched in the Russian Federation. Since 2021, the project has also been implemented in the direction of "Russia - Uzbekistan".
