"Interaction with the observer states at the Union is one of the key areas of the EAEU's international activities. Holding joint seminars aimed at exchanging practical experience on sensitive issues opens up great prospects for the development of cooperation between the authorized bodies of the EAEU countries and Uzbekistan, - said Natalia Jukova, Director of the Department of Sanitary, Phytosanitary and Veterinary Measures of the EEC. "A systematic review of the best practices for protecting the rights and interests of consumers will bring together the approaches of countries in the greater Eurasian space and increase the effectiveness of joint work in this area."
The Commission provided information on the main aspects of the formation of the consumer protection system in the Union, as well as the directions and activities of the program of joint actions of the EAEU countries in this area.
The participants of the seminar from the Republic of Uzbekistan shared their practical experience of the Agency for Consumer Protection under the Antimonopoly Committee. Representatives of the state bodies of the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation informed about the peculiarities of regulation and legislative initiatives in the field of consumer protection. The problems of consumer protection in retail, e-commerce, housing and communal services were discussed. The importance of developing and implementing measures aimed at improving consumer literacy of the population was highlighted.
The seminar participants expressed their readiness to hold such meetings on a systematic basis.
The seminar on topical issues of consumer protection was held by the Commission in accordance with the decisions taken at the 10th meeting of the Advisory Committee on Consumer Protection of the EAEU member States as part of the implementation of the joint action plan of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Eurasian Economic Commission for 2021-2023.
