There are 15,400 kilometers of roads in Bukhara region, of which 486 kilometers are of international importance. On average, 45-50 thousand vehicles travel along them every day.

At a meeting held on January 29 this year, the Head of state paid particular attention to this area, giving instructions on the quality construction of roads and the development of services along the streets. Work in this direction has begun in all regions.

In particular, part of the Samarkand – Bukhara – Turkmenbashi highway, which passes through the Karakul district, was made exemplary.

According to the project, the four-lane road is covered with a new type of asphalt concrete. The road’s quality characteristics have been improved thanks to innovative, high-strength materials.

For example, if asphalt roads based on traditional technology are repaired approximately every fifteen years, then roads of a new design will last up to twenty years. The maintenance interval will also increase. Another advantage is recycling and renewing road layers directly on-site during renovation.

The Head of state noted the need to scale the project.

“The main task is to ensure quality and culture on the roads”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

The new project pays special attention to this issue. Mobile scales will be installed to measure periodically the weight of vehicles carrying loads beyond the permissible limit to maintain the quality of the road.

A side road has also been built here. New signs, electronic displays, and solar panel lighting have been installed. Decorative trees are planted along the road.

The President emphasized that tree planting should be carried out simultaneously with road construction.

Projects in transport and construction were also presented here.

If an average of 250-300 kilometers of road work were carried out per year earlier, then in 2023 alone, 1,255 kilometers of roads were repaired. This year, 1,316 kilometers of roads in the region are planned to be reconstructed and repaired.

In continuation of this work, a project for the reconstruction of 155 kilometers of road from Gijduvan district to the border with Turkmenistan was approved.

The need to organize training in road construction and advanced training of specialists in developed countries was emphasized.

The concept of development of the city of Bukhara was also considered. It is planned to build a neighborhood and a New Uzbekistan Park in the city. The park will reflect the history of Bukhara using modern approaches. Instructions were given for developing the ideological content and feasibility study of the project.
