The President of Uzbekistan advocates strengthening ties with Utah

    The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a business delegation from the U.S. state of Utah, which included Elder David Bednar of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Miles Hansen, President & CEO at The Stirling Foundation. U.S. Ambassador to Uzbekistan Jonathan Henick also attended the meeting.

    The discussions focused on prospects for developing trade, economic, and investment cooperation with the state of Utah amid the growing momentum of the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States.

    Active contacts and exchanges between Uzbekistan and the state of Utah were noted with satisfaction. Joint projects have been launched in the fields of digitalization, education, and social protection.

    It was emphasized that there is significant potential to implement projects in innovation, mining, women’s entrepreneurship, inclusive education, healthcare, water supply, and sanitation.

    Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to organize a visit by a delegation led by the Governor of Utah to Uzbekistan to develop interregional cooperation.
