The president of a leading Japanese company has been appointed Honorary Consul of Uzbekistan in Hiroshima

    A ceremony was held dedicated to the appointment of the president of the Japanese company Balcom Group, Tetsuro Yamasaka, as the Honorary Consul of Uzbekistan in Hiroshima.

    The Honorary Consul contributes to the active promotion of the policy of economic diplomacy of Uzbekistan, the development of cooperation with Japan in the fields of trade, economy, culture, education and tourism, the Doone news agency reports.

    The event was attended by Hiroshima Prefectural Governor Hidehiko Yuzaki, Speaker of the Hiroshima Prefectural Assembly Takashi Nakamoto, Chairman of the Hiroshima Chamber of Commerce Koji Ikeda, Vice President of Hiroshima University Kazuhiro Tsuga, mayors of prefectural cities, members of local councils, representatives of the business community and others.

    In his speech, Ambassador of Uzbekistan Mukhsinkhoja Abdurakhmanov noted that the president of Balcom Group Tetsuro Yamasaka has implemented a number of investment projects in our country in recent years, as well as organized many events in the direction of tourism and cultural exchange between the two countries.

    In order to develop cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan, implement new projects, widely promote the investment, export and tourism potential of our country in Japan, organize cultural events and support compatriots, it was decided to appoint Tetsuro Yamasaka Honorary Consul of Uzbekistan.

    Hiroshima Prefecture Governor Hidehiko Yuzaki noted that Uzbekistan and Japan have a long history of friendly and trusting relations. It was noted that the historical cities of our country, such as Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, are of great interest to Japanese tourists, and the number of tourists visiting Uzbekistan has been increasing in recent years.

    Confidence was expressed in the further expansion of cooperation relations between this prefecture and the regions of Uzbekistan in the trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian, educational and tourism spheres.

    In his speech, the Honorary Consul expressed gratitude for the appointment to this responsible position and for the high trust of Uzbekistan.

    "I am ready to use all my knowledge and energy to promote the development of large-scale cooperation between the prefectures of Hiroshima, Fukuoka and Okayama, which are part of the honorary consular district, and the regions of Uzbekistan," he said.

    It was also announced that a building has been allocated for the opening of the Honorary Consulate in Hiroshima, and in the future an exhibition hall of Uzbek national products and a Trading house will be created in this building.

    In addition, in order to widely promote the Uzbekistan brand, it is planned to open a restaurant of Uzbek national cuisine and organize a tourist exhibition in Hiroshima Prefecture.
