Shortcomings in the preparation for winter critically reviewed

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev chairs a videoconference on elimination of shortcomings in the preparation for winter.

In autumn this year, frequent interruptions in supplying electricity and heat, natural and liquefied gas showed that industries and regions were not ready for winter. Gasoline prices have recently risen. All this causes a fair discontent among the population.

“I don't need grandiloquent words and numbers. Our people themselves in social networks give an objective assessment to local leaders’ work”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted.

Measures on eliminating shortcomings and improving the supply of energy resources were discussed at the meeting.

It was noted that for the uninterrupted supply of industries and regions in winter, it is necessary to generate an additional 10-12 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per day. The task was set to provide this disadvantage by launching 5 power units with a capacity of 900 megawatts at Tashkent, Syrdarya and Novo-Angren Power Plants.

The power outages are mainly due to the deterioration of 60 percent of distribution networks and growing demand for electricity. In this regard, it was noted that it is necessary to develop a program for gradual modernization of low and medium voltage networks and start implementing it as soon as possible.

The analysis shows that today the gas supply is experiencing a shortage of 20 million cubic meters of gas per day. As a result, the pressure in the gas pipelines fell in more than a thousand mahallas.

“We all know that problems associated with the gas system did not appear today, but have been causing difficulties for thirty years. But no one has the right to use this as an excuse. Our people need gas, most of them pay for it in a timely manner”, the President said.

The Head of the state instructed to reduce gas exports and direct it primarily to meet people's needs. Due to this, an additional 7-8 million cubic meters of natural gas per day will be sent to the regions. In addition, another 217 thousand tons of liquefied gas will be supplied for people's needs.

The possibility of increasing natural gas production by transferring 25 inefficient fields to investors on the basis of risk-service contracts was noted.

There are many complaints about coal at places. It was noted that 60 thousand tons of coal allocated for the population and social facilities have not yet been delivered to the recipient.

    The meeting continues.
