During the conversation, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for further development of friendly relations and cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan. Special attention was paid to deepening cooperation in such areas as economy, investment, transport, education, culture and tourism, the Dunyo news agency reports.
The Governor emphasized support for the initiative of regional interconnectedness put forward by the President of Uzbekistan and expressed readiness to expand cooperation with the regions of our republic and Uzbek partners within the framework of this initiative.
During the meeting, the topic of the Trans-Afghan railway project and its significance were touched upon. The Governor stressed that the passage of this project through the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in particular through Kharlachi, is of strategic importance for the region.
In addition, issues related to the implementation of joint projects in such areas as geology, oil and gas industry, digital technologies, agriculture, animal husbandry, tourism and logistics were discussed.
The parties also discussed promising joint projects in the field of developing cultural and educational ties, student exchange, academic cooperation and organizing joint cultural events.
They also noted the need to intensify practical measures within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the khokimiyat of Surkhandarya region and the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, signed in 2022.
The parties agreed to accelerate work on a draft document on establishing twinning relations between the cities of Termez and Peshawar, as well as to organize a visit by a delegation of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa business circles to Uzbekistan headed by the governor in August this year.
The Governor welcomed the preparations for the Uzbek-Pakistani Interregional Forum and confirmed his participation in the event.
In conclusion, the proposals of the parties on organizing a separate business visit of the delegation of business circles of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to Surkhandarya region were considered.
