It will be timed to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea, Yonhap reported, citing a government source.

North Korea celebrates the founding of the party on October 10, and every five and 10 years, with large-scale military parades and gymnastic performances.

Signs of preparations for the parade were noticed back in the summer.

"Since the beginning of July, personnel, equipment and vehicles have been found using satellite images at the training ground for the military parade near the Mirim airport in Pyongyang," an anonymous source said. Among the equipment seen were transport launchers (TPUs).

Experts expect North Korea to unveil new weapons systems on the day of the parade. Among the alleged partial demonstrations are the "final version" of the new generation intercontinental ballistic missile Hwasong—19, which is possibly under development, as well as possibly improved kamikaze drones.

The insider also said that the number of forces and means mobilized for the proposed military parade is likely to be higher than in previous years.

The last time North Korea held a major overnight military parade was in September 2023 in honor of the 75th anniversary of its formation. focus.ua.
