It was particularly noted that this Law was developed taking into account the proposals and opinions of the public.
Today, in order to perpetuate the memory of persons who have left a deep mark in the history of Uzbekistan or the world, including public and state figures, the legislation does not clearly regulate the procedure for assigning their names to geographical objects.
For this reason, in practice, there are various problems with assigning a person's name to geographical objects (a street, a mahalla, a square, a park and other constituent parts of settlements).
In addition, the Law "On the Names of Geographical Objects" establishes that when assigning names to geographical objects, the opinion of the local population is taken into account.
However, in the current legislation, the procedure for taking into account the opinion of the population is not disclosed. Also, the procedure for assigning the names of personalities who have left a deep mark in the history of Uzbekistan or the world to the constituent parts of settlements (mahallas, avenues, streets, squares, parks, squares) is not defined.
When assigning names of personalities to geographical objects, there are no requirements for their selection. These circumstances lead to the fact that the names of geographical objects change continuously.
The Law consists of 4 articles and amendments are being made to 6 articles of the Law "On Names of Geographical Objects".
As a result of the adoption of the Law, in order to perpetuate the memory of persons who have left a deep mark in the history of Uzbekistan, including public and state figures, various problems arising when assigning their names to geographical objects are eliminated.
The law was approved by senators.
