On November 9, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree awarding a group of healthcare workers on the occasion of the Medical Workers’ Day.

Today, a ceremony for presenting honorary titles, orders, and medals to the awardees was held at Tashkent State Medical University.

Among those honored were young doctors who completed training and internships at leading foreign universities, as well as international partners who have contributed significantly to improving public health in Uzbekistan.

It was noted that the country is carrying out rapid reforms aimed at ensuring sustainable economic growth, creating jobs and income sources, providing modern education for youth, and strengthening the health of the population.

As a result, the capacity of primary healthcare institutions has increased by 60 percent, and medical assistance has become significantly more accessible to the population. More than 400 high-tech diagnostic and treatment methods that were previously performed mainly in the capital have now been introduced in the regions. Hundreds of complex surgeries are performed at the regional level, while minimally invasive procedures are conducted in district hospitals.

“For the first time, kidney transplant surgeries have been established in 45 districts – a clear demonstration of our practical commitment to protecting human health”, said the President. “Life expectancy in our country has increased: for men, from 71 to 73 years, and for women, from 76 to 77.5 years. This is our great collective achievement. More than 600,000 dedicated healthcare workers have made a worthy contribution to these noble efforts, and no words of gratitude can fully express our appreciation”.

The President then presented state awards and personally congratulated the recipients on behalf of the entire nation.
